It is the 2nd tallest tower in Malaysia and the 19th tallest in the
world but that's far from being the big deal Kedah has come to take
pride in. What matters most is that you are about to discover that the
tower is an unmistakable symbolic representation of the toils,
trepidations and triumphs of Kedah's journey in search of progress and
prosperity throughout the years.

Alor Star officially opened its door to visitors on 14th August 1997 by
the grace of Tun Dr.Mahathir Mohamad, the charismatic Malaysia's fourth
Prime Minister whom himself hails from Kedah.
Menara Alor Setar
Menara Alor Setar merupakan menara telekomunikasi
yang ke 19 tertinggi di dunia dan juga yang ke 2 tertinggi di Malaysia.
Ketinggiannya 165.5 meter dan pembinaannya melibatkan kos sebanyak RM40
juta. Menara ini merupakan pusat pelancongan utama dan Mercutanda
Kebanggaan Negeri Kedah Darul Aman.
Ruang pemerhati di Aras 88 Meter membolehkan
pengunjung menikmati panorama Bandaraya Alor Setar. Di ruang ini juga
terdapat 5 set teropong automatic, kaunter menjual cenderahati dan ais
krim serta kemudahan pertukaran wang.
Menara
Alor Star dengan rasminya telah membuka pintu kepada pelawat pada 14
ogos 1997 dan telah di rasmikan oleh Yang Berbahagia Tun Dr. Mahathir
Mohamad,Perdana Menteri Malaysia yang ke 4.
